Brain EV System for Meditation

Considering a revisit

After nearly 4 months break from using meditation CDs of any kind I am considering going back to the Brain EV System to see if anything interesting arises that I can report on.

Whilst I have experienced some noticeable growth over the six-months of usage, especially in the area of my creativity I feel it is worth seeing if indeed it really is actively beneficial. I am in no hurry to get back to the Brain EV sessions and I may even wait a few more months before doing so. I think the biggest benefit I have had from the Brain EV System to be honest is the fact that it got me regularly meditating. I think unassisted meditation is good enough as long as you are not eager to see big changes overnight, but are content with integrating the practice of meditation into your life.

That’s the point really. I do rate the Brain EV System highly, but meditation is not a finite program, it is something that will only bring lasting benefit if you continue to do it as part of your life. After all the benefits of eating do not last if you stop eating! The benefits of meditation are the same, just like the benefits of regular sleep too.

Still, what I have to compare is where I am now with where I was when I started meditating, first with Holosync, which I stopped using in favor of the Brain EV System. There is no concrete proof that meditation changed my life, but any life change comes as a result of the sum of everything you adopt, apply, integrate, experience and act upon, so meditation has to have played a part.

What I can say is that these systems, especially Brain EV, provided an accelerated catharsis for certain "stuff" that needed to be eeked out into the open for me to deal with it. From that perspective I think it is superb. It may not be your cup of tea to have to "Deal with stuff", but on some level you are dealing with stuff all the time and it is far better to do it with more consciousness because that will give you the opportunity to choose the next step rather than just react to whatever step you feel you’ve been pushed into.

There’s the difference between adopting a meditation practice and not and why I am interested in revisiting a program I have already completed to see if it will provide more hidden benefits. Until I resume, it’s back to traditional meditation for me, which is what helps me with general mental discipline.

So I still can’t figure out why you have such an affinity for Brain EV, so much so that you have left both Monroe Institute and Centerpointe in the dust? Just curious.

Hi Zoe,

I’ve never used anything from the Monroe Institute, so not sure what you mean there.

I want to see if the brain ev program is something that will have further reaching benefit if revisited seeing as it is not a large time commitment. I can only try out one thing at a time, so that rules out using both Holosync and Brain EV simultaneously.

Holosync lasts about 7 years and I’ve already decided that I have no desire to use Brainwave entrainment for that long. I actually prefer unassisted meditation now.

There’s nothing to figure out Zoe. I’m simply trying things out.

Robert Monroe, his namesake The Monroe Institute created Hemisync. Hemispheric synchronization using proprietary application of binaural beat technology. Centerpointe is Holosync with a completely different proprietary application that is intended to synchronize the entire brain: Think Holographic.

I appreciated your Brain EV diary… although it did seem your attention to the diary suffered as you became more focused on your other projects. You had described impressions/sensation directly related to use… that seemed to be fresh experience perspectives… then you moved to broad, after the fact, general impressions.

You do not describe your self directed meditation experiences relative to the guided systems as though there is any significant value in exploring those perspectives. The original intent was a good thing… it is my impression you could have done it justice by being more diligently proactive in recording your observations along the way… You actually wrote the review of CD4 when you were 3 weeks in to CD5 (your own words).

If you do this again.. please clear your plate… set out a map/guideline of the report structure and follow it so you actually compare apples to apples and not stray so far off that nothing can be compared; or related to.

You make some valid points. I’m not sure how useful comparisons are however. Sure it is human instinct to compare experiences and perspectives, but in the context of a meditation program like this one, a person’s perspective does not increase or diminish the significance or meaning of anyone else’s, so I think comparing one’s experience of such a system to what others have experienced is a bit of a red herring.

I’m still developing my ability to convey my own experiences in a more comprehensive and useful way for others, so I guess that means I’m still working on improving my writing, reporting and level of engagement in what I write, so your feedback on my reporting methods is very valuable. Thank you.

I will take note. Other projects indeed have taken priority for me over this blog. I am continuing with my meditation though, with and without the CDs and working on improving my organisational skills too.

Hi Mike,
Yes I am. Since completing the full program I can now pick and choose which of the 6 CDs to go back to, so I am not sticking strictly to the original program order. Of course, for anyone doing the program for the first time, you must stick to the program schedule as per the Brain EV recommendations.

What I’ve found about how it has benefitted me the most is that I care a lot less about whether people like me or not. I used to let that influence my decisions on a day to day basis too much and now I can see more clearly that I don’t need to worry about it.

Love your blog, and agree with you about BrainEv. Found your site while looking for other users, and love your review.

BrainEv is absolutely the best brainwave meditation program out there, and beats Holosync, Hemi-Sync, and all of those other tools. And YES, I’ve used them for many years.
