It is Only Ever About the Process

Following on from practicing affirmations, which may not be giving you the feeling.

And not the result. The result is a conclusion, an ending and once we humans reach the end of something, even if it’s the result we’ve been wanting for ages, it is soon forgotten about and we’re onto the next thing.

Why? Because we seem to subconsciously think that we’re not good enough as we are and need to achieve that extra thing, right now, before it’s too late. There’s nothing wrong with the desire to achieve and achieve again, but take the time to enjoy what is it you have achieved or gained already.

That is one of the most common causes of suffering. Don’t forget why you want to achieve something, not just crossing the finish line.

I have found over the last couple of years that I make more progress towards a particular goal when I don’t view it as a target. I noticed this first of all unintentionally, by being immersed in doing something that created a general feeling of happiness and contentment in me.

I’m not talking about overwhelming joy, but a simple feeling of satisfaction, something that everyone can get into an any given day. The thing about overwhelming joy is that it is… well, overwhelming, so it isn’t designed to be felt 100% of the time. Simply feeling good about the day is key. Don’t write that off as not being good enough.

Your goal will come quicker if you have that feeling more often and embrace it. Being in that state of happiness, which as I said is not a huge thing to accomplish (it could be caused by a moment watching your cat playing with a ball of string), puts you into some kind of state of allowing your bigger goals to come to fruition.

Look. It has taken me years to achieve some of the things I wanted to achieve and I’m still "working" on others after years and I know that what has stopped me is forgetting about what I am actually feeling now, about everything.

If there’s one thing I think is critical to living the life you want then it’s this:

Enjoy everything you can that is already in your life in your own way. The way that guarantees you feeling good about yourself and in a state of inspired thinking. When you are there, it’s written all over your face and things just happen. People just come out of nowhere to help you – You’ll see.
